Showy Goldenrod attracts: native bees, honey bees and beneficial insects that protect your garden from insect pests.
Showy Goldenrod is a relatively small goldenrod that is not aggressive. It is found in prairies and on meadow edges so does well in a variety of soils under relatively dry conditions. It is more rare than other goldenrods and has been listed as endangered in the wild. The blossoms are very showy and it is a powerhouse (as are all goldenrods!) for feeding native insects in the fall season. Contrary to popular myth, goldenrod does not cause allergies. Their pollen is too heavy to float in the air! (Plants like ragweed are the culprits!)
