Bloom colour: Red, Pink, Yellow
Height: 1-3 feet
Light: Part Shade
Soil: Sandy, well drained, not too rich
Water: Medium to Dry
Zone 3-8 (click here to find your plant hardiness zone)
Wild Columbine attracts: Hummingbirds and other birds, bees, butterflies and hawk moths (so cool!)
And is a host plant for the columbine borer moth and the columbine duskywing butterfly.
It grows in woodlands and meadows so has high drought tolerance and is resilient to hot and cold weather. It likes moisture but if your garden is quite moist the soil must be well drained. It doesn't do it best in full sun, so growth may be stunted and leaves burnt if planted in too much sun.
